Clothing the house

Rijk geillustreerd boek dat de huidige kennis over textiel en architectuur in de Nijlvallei van het begin van de Romeinse tijd tot de vroeg-islamitische periode presenteert. Bevat meer dan dertien essays van internationale experts over onder meer de architectonische context waarin textiel wordt gebruikt, de technische kenmerken ervan, de decoratie, de sociale status van de dragers. Gepubliceerd naar aanleiding van de conferentie van de internationale werkgroep Textiles from the Nile Valley (Katoen Natie, Antwerpen, oktober 2007).
This richly illustrated volume Clothing the house is the result of the 5th conference of the international research group "Textiles from the Nile Valley" held in Katoen Natie, Antwerp, 6-7 October 2007. It includes 14 papers by (textile-) and art historians, archaeologists and technologists focusing the connection between textiles and architecture - be it secular, cultic or sepulchral in function - in particular in the Egyptian culture during the 1st millennium AD.
