This is an extensive anthological catalogue exhibition dedicated to Christo and Jeanne-Claude. Nearly forty years after their first wrapping of a public building, Skira, in association with the Museum of Modern Art of Lugano, this book proposes a look at the artistic production of Christo and Jeanne-Claude, the celebrated artist-couple who came into view in the second half of the 20th century by taking on an absolutely innovative role on the international artistic scene as environmental artists. The catalogue presents the couple's artistic evolution from 1958 to the present from Christo's first Packages and Wrapped Objects, items that were concealed with fabric and rope, created in the late 1950s and which instantly conferred him international recognition, to the The Gates, Central Park (1979-2005). Together with his wife Jeanne-Claude, the Bulgarian-born artist began in the 1960s to conceive and realise works of art both in the urban and rural environment, by transforming natural and monumental settings into a new aesthetic reality. Through essays, preparatory drawings, collages, scale models, and photographs documented in the volume, the compelling and controversial aesthetic vision of the legendary duo unfolds
